I Want Holy God

“È un angeletto, she’s a little angel. Her patience was admirable, her resignation in suffering was so perfect. And then, she understood supernatural things in a superior manner. As for her innocence, no one can doubt of it. She’s an angel who lived with the Angels.” (Pope Saint Pius X)

When the nuns of the Good Shepherd Convent in Cork, Ireland, welcomed the little three-year-old invalid Nellie Organ on May 11, 1907, little did they think that the story of her short but beautiful life would soon be spread across the globe.

This extraordinary child, who only spent four years and five months in this world, displayed unusual generosity and selflessness from the day she entered the convent orphanage. Her interest in and love of “Holy God” grew constantly, manifested particularly by devotion to Our Lord’s Passion, to Our Lady and to the Blessed Eucharist.

She received Holy Communion at the age of four, “literally hungering for her God” (Father Bury S.J.) and died in the odor of sanctity on February 2, 1908.
